Key 2026 Changes — Read Before You Apply

Portugal NHR closed March 2025 — replaced by IFICI (NHR 2.0), restricted to R&D, tech, and innovation professionals. Retirees and passive-income earners no longer qualify for special tax rates. D7 and D8 visas remain active.

Spain Golden Visa eliminated 2025 — no new real estate pathway applications. Digital Nomad Visa income threshold updated to €2,850/month (2026 SMI). Beckham Law 24% flat rate still available for first 6 years.

New in 2026: 10+ countries launched or updated nomad visa programs. Thailand's 5-year DTV now allows 180-day stays at just $290. Colombia remains one of the lowest income thresholds at ~$750/month.
